Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) participated in the First Arab Postal Leaders Forum, held in Muscat, Oman, from February 12th to 14th, 2024, under the theme “Arab Posts: On track towards digital transformation and innovation.”
The forum was inaugurated by Mr. Masahiko Metoki, Director General, Universal Postal Union.
The Qatari delegation was led by His Excellency Faleh Al Naemi, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Post. He participated in panel discussions, speaking about Qatar Post’s journey of digital transformation and highlighting the company’s achievements in postal and logistics services. He also discussed the steps taken by Qatar Post to improve service quality and meet customer needs in the era of digital technology, emphasizing the importance of innovation and continuous development.
Al Naemi emphasized that this journey has been a continuous challenge due to the ongoing advancements in digital technologies. Qatar Post has embraced the latest technologies and practices to enhance efficiency and facilitate postal and logistics operations, including the innovation of digital solutions to provide fast and reliable services to customers. He also stressed the importance of cybersecurity awareness and data protection, through employee training on the use of new technologies and raising awareness about digital security.
The forum also addressed issues related to the digital economy and the role of postal networks in bridging the digital divide, as well as leveraging these networks to expand digital financial services, e-commerce, and e-government services, in addition to integrating communication channels for maximum benefit. Participants emphasized the importance of cooperation and partnership between the public and private sectors to harness the advantages of digital transformation.
The forum concluded with recommendations aimed at supporting a cooperative approach to connecting postal operator offices by 2030, supporting policies that encourage affordable access to digital services, enhancing regional integration and expanding digital communication and the digital economy, as well as supporting capacity building and knowledge transfer for postal staff and encouraging the use of innovative solutions at the postal network level.
