
On Sunday, November 5, 2023, Qatar Post released a commemorative postage stamp to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey. The stamp was unveiled at the main post office building in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Jabr Al Naemi, Acting Director-General of Qatar Post, and His Excellency
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Qatar Dr. Mustafa Goksu.
This release underscores the historical and cultural ties that have united the two countries since 1973 and reflects the depth of diplomatic relations between them and the ways of close and constructive cooperation in various fields.
Mr. Al Naemi added, “Qatar Post is committed to opening new horizons for cooperation, especially in the areas of e-commerce, various logistics solutions, and services, including the Turkish Souq Initiative and other agreements that enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.”
The design of the stamp reflects aspects of cultural and civilizational exchange between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey. It depicts the desert rose, which is a natural heritage of Qatar symbolizing resilience, alongside the tulip, one of the most famous flowers in the Republic of Turkey, symbolizing authenticity. A total of 5,000 sets of this stamp were issued, along with 1,000 first day covers, priced at 8 Qatari Riyals.
