Qatar Post obtains the first postal license in the State of Qatar

Doha, January 22, 2025:

The Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) announced obtaining the first postal license in Qatar from the Communications Regulatory Authority, under the Postal Services Regulation Law (Law No. 15 of 2023). This step is part of regulating and developing the postal sector in the country, contributing to enhancing competition and supporting economic development in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

The license was delivered during a ceremony attended by Mr. Falah bin Mohammed Al-Naemi, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Post, and Engineer Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority, along with several senior officials. Participants emphasized the significance of this step in building a modern postal system based on technology, providing wide-ranging opportunities for local and international postal service providers.

In this context, Mr. Falah Mohammed Al-Naemi, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Post, stated: ” Obtaining this license marks a new chapter for Qatar Post. We are committed to modernizing our operations, adopting advanced technologies, and meeting the evolving needs of our customers. By embracing innovation and digital transformation, we aim to deliver exceptional services and support Qatar’s ambitions as a leader in logistics and trade”

Engineer Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani, President of CRA, added: “By opening the market to competition, we are expanding consumer options through creating a robust, technology-driven ecosystem. These efforts reflect our commitment to consumer protection, market transparency, and fostering a dynamic sector that supports Qatar’s ambitions through creating opportunities for local and international postal Service Providers.”

The licensing process occurs in two phases, Phase 1 automatically qualifies Qatar Postal Services Company as the public postal operator, granting it the first license in accordance with the provisions of the Law Regulating Postal Services. Phase 2, set to conclude in April 2025, focuses on licensing additional postal Service Providers.
